John has been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Great Western Hospital Swindon since 1995, specialising in hip replacement surgery. His main area of interest is complex primary and revision surgery.
His qualifications include: MBBS (London), MA Cantab, MD Leicester, FRCS Ed, FRCSEng, FRCS(Orth).
John read medical sciences at Cambridge University before completing his clinical studies at Guy's Hospital, London in 1984. He undertook his Orthopaedic training in Oxford, Leicester and Wessex. John specialised in hip and knee surgery towards the end of his training and undertook a fellowship in arthroplasty surgery in the USA.
His professional activities have included being an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Royal College of Surgeons Tutor and an education faculty member of AO (trauma education). His managerial experience includes having been a clinical director in the Orthopaedic Department in Swindon. He has been a reviewer for Bone and Joint Journal and Hip International. He is a Royal College of Surgeons Assessor for Consultant Appointments.
John retired from Private Practice in 2021.
